Saker Aviation Services was proud to serve as a sponsor for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture Oshkosh 2014, held July 28-August 3 at the Wittman Regional Airport and other airports in east-central Wisconsin.
Nicknamed “The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebrationâ€, an estimated 500,000 people enjoyed this year’s festivities, according to the EAA. Over 800 exhibitors and 5,400 volunteers took part in the weeklong event which featured over 2,600 showplanes and over 1,000 vintage aircraft. For many, the highlight of the week was the first appearance of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds to AirVenture. Over 2,000 people from 69 nations registered for the event.
The first EAA AirVenture was held in 1953 as part of the Milwaukee (Wis.) Air Pageant with less than 150 visitors. The event moved to its current home in Oshkosh in 1969, where it has become one of the world’s premier aviation events. According to the EAA, visitors to AirVenture boost the local and state economies by more than $110-million per year.
Plans are already in place for the 2015 AirVenture, scheduled for July 20-26, with an emphasis on celebrating the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. With maintenance centers and FBOs across the country, Saker Aviation is committed to providing exceptional aviation services with a focus on safety, outstanding customer service, and personalized solutions for major commercial airlines, private and business jets, military aircraft, and rotor aircraft.
