2019 Marks 50 Years for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh

Known as The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration, the EAA Fly-In Convention has actually been in existence for more than 60 years. However, 2019 is the 50th year it will be at its current location in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. 

The first Fly-In convention took place in September of 1953 at Curtiss-Wright (now Timmerman) Field and was part of the Milwaukee Air Pageant. Though there were only around 150 attendees that first year, the event grew quickly. After moving to the Rockford Municipal Airport, the growth continued and EAA AirVenture eventually found its home Oshkosh. The current site was built from the ground up specifically for one of the largest aviation events in the United States.

AirVenture 2019 Highlights

Today, people come from all over the world to attend the premier event. Visitors enjoy a week of airshows, aircraft, exhibits, educational opportunities and much more. This year’s highlights include Aerial Firefighting, the F-16 Viper Demonstration team and the F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team, the popular Drone Light Show, and the Fly-In Theater. The list of attractions and educational opportunities is almost overwhelming but guarantees a week of excitement, wonder, entertainment, and education for the entire family.
