Why do you fly?
“I fly for fun, freedom, adventure and camaraderie. For 36 years I have had the pleasure of introducing several people to general aviation and .the excitement and joy of moving over the world and seeing it from above. Being able to fly to interesting places for a day or weekend with friends and family is convenient, time saving, and a great group activity. Meeting,, interacting and learning from fellow pilots is one of my favorite benefits of being involved in aviation.. I fly because piloting an aircraft is a worthwhile skill to have, and share, and it is simply awesome.” -David H.

First flying experience was in Marathon’s King Air 90. I have had friends that let me go flying. Still want to get the ticket to do it on my own.” - Mark L.

Why do you fly?

Why do you fly?
“I have always been interested in all mechanical devices and as a kid disassembled mowers, motors, carbs, tractors, junk cars and anything just to see how they worked. An aircraft is the ultimate mechanical device-it can fly. For me, the ultimate thrill is to be able to control a mechanical device that can fly through the air.” -Mark M.

Why do you fly?
“I was introduced to flying by my father. When I was 14 we built a gyrocopter in our garage and flew it out of a farmer’s field on the weekends. 46 years have past since those days and 5 different builds with my father. We have flown together in our home-builds most of my life and created a lifetime of flying memories. My father is now 83 years young and we still fly together in my 182 every chance we get. Flying is a family affair and my love of flying is only surpassed by my love of family. So for me, flying and family go hand in hand and that’s why I love flying!” -Joe Stanley

Why do you fly?
My love for flight didn’t start until I started working in Aviation. Our company manufactures avionics that are installed on many aircraft around the world. My love for flight established as I was helping others to trouble shoot SATCOM and Connectivity issues on commercial and private planes. I came to appreciate the complexity of all the avionics and how they all work together. The view in the cockpit at 49000 feet is magnificent and flying on an aircraft where most of avionics installed are ours is very satisfying.” -Tuan N.

Why do you fly?
“I started out as a marketing person in this business for a charter company. Then I moved into dispatching and became a flight coordinator. I dealt with pilots day after day and I was in awe of their expertise and their passion for flying. At the same time I also had friends that worked at Hobby Tower and at Center and IAH tower. Of course they told me of their closest calls and situations that warranted emergency actions. I had traveled my whole life as my father was in the oil business. I was born in Africa, we then moved to Peru and Venezuela and finally to the best country in the world. Good ol’ USA! I had traveled transcontinent in propeller planes and it wasn’t till I heard their stories that I became alarmed at the safety in the skies! I really didn’t want to fly much because of all of the stories I had heard. One year my husband very lovingly gave me the best gift. Flight lessons at a local flight school. I very quickly earned my private pilot license and started to work on my instrument when I became pregnant with our first child. Quickly thereafter came a second and my flying career stalled. I traded in the rest of my flying lessons for raising two amazing girls. I worked my way from flight coordinator to company owner. I have been in this business for 30 + years. Now I’m an empty nester and I have every intention to go back and get my instrument rating. So while I do not fly for a living, I have always had a passion for aviation!” -Marcela W.

Why do you fly?

“Freedom!! When I had my PPL there was nothing as satisfying as flying along and taking in a very privileged view of the world. A flight into and above the clouds into the Sunshine is just spectacular.” -Nigel F

Why do you fly?

“ Most people find their passion later on in life but not me. I was born with the passion to become a helicopter pilot. To soar above the skyline, with the ability to land anywhere, what’s not to love, and what better place that NYC to fly in and out of? No landing is ever the same and the exciment of landing at either of the heliports never gets old. I was the first person from my country to become a helicopter pilot, which gave me a huge drive to achieve what seems unachievable.” -Brandon S
