Oshkosh 2019 Must-Sees

It’s that time of year again when we all come together for “aviation’s family reunion”. This year marks the 50th consecutive year of its annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in convention, which means this year will be an experience unlike any other.

From July 22-28 the Oshkosh calendar is jam-packed with exciting exhibits, workshops, airshows, performances, and more! It can seem a bit overwhelming when seeing all the amazing activities there are to experience this year. We’re here to help break down some of the greatest must-sees of Oshkosh 2019!

#1 Aerial Firefighting

Aerial Firefighting

Aerial firefighting will be a highlight at Oshkosh this year. The EAA announced that this will be a major theme of this year’s Oshkosh events and will have the support from the U.S. Forest Service and other aircraft operators and manufacturers.

This event allows the public to experience aerial firefighting up close and personal! Not only will you get to learn more about those protecting you, but you also get to learn the systems and discover how they work in a static setting. You won’t want to miss it!

#2 Astronaut Michael Collins

Michael Collins

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, Michael Collins, the Apollo 11 command module pilot, will be a featured guest at Oshkosh 2019.

The event will highlight all the work that went into making the moon landing and the safe return to Earth possible. Collins will be joined by Joe Engle, a fellow Apollo astronaut, and the host, four-time space shuttle astronaut Charlie Precourt.

#3: Night Air Shows

This is an event you and your family absolutely cannot miss! The night air shows at Oshkosh are filled with a display of precision aerobatics from world-renowned air show performers. There is incredible pyrotechnics mixed in with dazzling performances by the pilots.

This isn’t all though. The show ends with a firework display that will blow your mind!

#4 Aircraft Designer Burt Rutan

Burt Rutan

Burt Rutan, renowned aerospace engineer and aircraft designer, will have his Rutan-designed airplanes on display at Oshkosh along with a number of presentations. Being at the forefront of aerospace innovation and for being known to push the envelope when it comes to design and energy efficiency, the Rutan display is an amazing educational experience.

#5: Theater in the Woods

After a busy day at Oshkosh, there is nothing better than to sit down, relax, and enjoy the incredible lineup that this year’s program, Theater in the Woods, has to offer. Whether it be astronauts, musicians, aviation legends, or EAA award winners, you are promised an informative and entertaining night.
